Not sure about the golden hognose, but I know that the blonde hognoses can be a bit of problems feeders.
Cracking looking snakes though.

hi there had a pair for about 18 months, beautiful snakes. bit hissy and very fast but very nice. not realy a display snake and if kept in open viv they need lots of hides or they will go off food.
will probably be wild caught so go to a good vets and the usual parasitology checks/ treatments will be wise.

I keep mine in a rack system and find they feed well on two large mice about every 14 days rarely refusing even in shed.
As i say very quick in the hands, tend to want to try and get away, they dont like to be held to tightly and may bite to get away.
Remember they are rear fanged and have a much bigger mouth than a western hognose so they can bring the fangs into a bite although as i say they are mellow and I touch wood have never had a stike even off one.

I have read documented reports on envenomations occuring so they should be treated with respect.I had a long discussion with Mark OShea at west mids Safari park when I got the first one and he advised me to treat it with care.

I am trying to breed my pair at the moment but not having much luck .
in short lovely snake thats a little different -enjoy
