I went to York Reptile night at the weekend and was told by one of the experienced snake keepers there that she had got her hoggy feeding by soaking him in Powerade for a few minutes prior to feeding.
Has anyone else heard of this or tried this?
Apparently she used the orange one, because the blue one dyes your hoggy's skin. She just soaked him in a few inches of Powerade and water mixed together and he was like a gannet afterwards. Previously he'd not eaten for many months. |

Sounds a bit weird. My hog goes into a blind panic if I put him into water (which I occasionally have to do for shedding purposes) so I don't think he'd like it very much if I put him in Powerade...
O/T, but is the York Reptile Night any good? I live nearby, and very vaguely know of the bloke who organises it, but I didn't want to go unless it was well-attended. |

Apparrently it does work for other snakes Sexychef
Although I know what you mean about hoggys and water Louise, Wilbur hates baths
York rep night is good, if you drop on a night when our forum lot is going. There are quite a few of us that go, but not always every month because it's quite a way for us (we live in Barnsley/Rotherham/Sheffield/Leeds). Usually there is me and lewy, Blackecho, Magnecticblue, DazB and Gingerpony go from our forums, although there are loads of other people there from RFUK. It is quite busy, but very snake orientated. Not very often we get any other reps there |

Might drop in on the next one... snake orientated is fine by me, cos snakes are what I've got! Do people take their reps along with them, or is it just a general get-together/discussion type of affair? |

Sexychef- pm Pauline on the dark side- she's the one that told me about it.
Lou - yes people take their reps, so we all get to handle some great snakes while we are there. No talks as such, it's just an informal get together really. |

Sounds cool - will definitely make an effort to go to the next one. That'd be this Sunday, right? Unless they've changed it because of the bank holiday? I like handling different snakes - don't get the opportunity very often! |

I think it is this Sunday, although I doubt we'll make this one, due to the bank holiday the next day
Will let you know though if we change our minds. It'll be nice to meet you
*EDIT*
GP has just posted the details on the Reptilian, so here they are:
The next York Rep Night is on:
Sunday 2nd May from 6pm at
The Locomotive Inn Watson Street York YO24 4BH
