What do u use for treatment of mites on western hogs?? ive seen many products/procedures mentioned but nothing hog specific.dont want to be caught with my pants down ,so its best to be prepared.
I would use frontline or Zoo med mite off if my hoggy came down with the blastered things.
That plus a bath and viv clean out every 2 days.
Also take out all the substrate and just have kitchen towel in there. Mites need substrate to breed so paper towels prevent them from reproducing. Plus it makes them easier to see so you can monitor stuff better.
I also like squishing the mites when my nails so they pop. Very satisfying
I think the best way to prevent re-infestation is to keep on going with the treatment (both for the snake and for the viv) until all trace of the mites has gone. And once you think they're all dead, change the substrate and wash everything inside the viv again just to be on the safe side.
