Hi, my name is Bill and I live in Wolverhampton. I have been interested in animals all my life, and have fond memories of exotic animals which my grandfather kept. I have one hognose snake who I have named Merle although I am unsure of the sex, as Merle is still growing.
Looking forward to meeting you all.
All the best from Bill. |

Ha ha, yes I have found your sister site earlier, not stalking, honest! Both sites seem good fun, so well done everyone.

Hello Bill, Just out of interest, what sort of animals did your grandfather keep? Mine had a cat that hissed whenever anyone went near it, so I'll be quite jealous if yours had a crocodile or a komodo dragon or something... |

Nooo, Grandad had all sorts of exotics from before I was born almost up to his death. Skinks, Barking tree frogs, a red knee tarantula... he kept a burmese rock python which was passed on to his youngest son, my uncle. Others included Wall Lizards, and red eared sliders. He gave me my first exotic pets (pink winged stick insects) and my first snakes (two different types of garter snake). I sort of veered off more into insects after that but I got back to vertebrates about six years ago with Clive, my Great Plains Toad (Bufo cognatus), then last summer I bought my Western Hognose. During my teens I did voluntary work at my local safari park. There wasn't much non-DWA stuff that didn't decide to bite me... My worst bite was From a Madagascan Giant Hognose that was milky eyed. He chewed me up pretty bad, and my hand swelled up like a boxing glove for a week. You can see where the back-fangs went in to this day. It happened due to my inexperience and the fear of this poor half blind snake, so I don't blame the animal obviously, and it makes a great story to tell! All the best from Bill. |

My dad did take some pics, but I'm not sure where they are. I'll see what I can do.
