Not sure if this is the right section to be posting in. Just wanted to seek some advice.
Vedder, since his feed on sunday, has spent his entire time underneath the water bowl on the cold side. I was concerened slightly so have been removing him from there and popping him in the warm side as he is very cold to touch. Temps are all spot on etc. Its just not like him.
I hear alot of tales just now with the winter coming in that some peoples snakes are going into brumation and hibernation. Could something like this be the case for Vedder? This is my 1st winter with snakes so Im not really sure what to expect.

My hoggies have been spending a lot of time on the warm side recently, but my corn always tends to gravitate towards the cold end at this time of year. I'm not sure why, but she does still eat OK during this time.
I think the thing about him being cold to the touch is just because your own body temperature is quite a lot higher than his, which I assume is normal room temperature if he's at the cold end. It probably feels like he's absolutely freezing, but he will actually be more like 20C. I wouldn't worry too much if he's still eating and pooing OK - they do instinctively know how to regulate their body temperature and it shouldn't be necessary to help him out with it! |
