Hoggies are fantastic. They require temps a little warmer than corns 31-33C. They don't grow as big as corns. They can be (males especially) prone to being picky feeders. And you mostly need to be aware that they are mildly venomous although they very rarely bite. They just like to create a fuss to scare you the little darlings |

they tend to strike with their mouths closed, my wee boy is a bit fiesty and i use a snake hook to get him up onto my hand then he sits quite happily, its more a defence thing, iv never looked back on my hoggy and cnt wait to get more and i keep childrens and royal pythons and their aint much of a difference. plus they rear fanged so it would need to be a proper latch on bite for him to get u

Hi and welcome. They are fab little snakes. My little girl more often than not throws a complete hissy fit when I go to change her water,do spot cleans etc. She flattens her neck out mini cobra style, hisses and strikes. I've only ever been headbutted though, she's never bit. As soon as she's picked up she stops and becomes a total sweetie. Bi-polar and totally adorable! |
