I am hoping to start keeping and breeding hoggies and would like to know more about the genetics, e.g. the morphs and which are recessive or co-dominant ect... Any help is appreciated.

Also, can anyone explain the 'het' thing to me??
Thanks...

I found a GREAT site. It has several topics on genetics but I'll give you the address for the Intro to Genetics. I found them helpful but you really have to sit down to digest the more advanced topics. My head was hurting for a while. Here is the intro site:
http://www.newenglandreptile.com/genetics_intro.html
It's general not specific to hogs though.

Hoggie morphs no idea am clueless, there are green ones red ones and normal coloured ones some even have 3 colours.

het (heterozygous) is a term to show the snake carries a recessive gene for a morph/colour/paintjob.

sneaky edit: as a minimum you would require 2 snakes het for the same genes to possibly produce the morph.

I think "het" is the snake equivalent of having a recessive gene, but I could be wrong...

The 'het' thing is what genes it could/are carrying.

For example a person that has a ginger haired dad (lol) but has brown hair himself could be classed as het for ginger as he's carrying the ginger gene.

That's the easiest way I can explain it myself.

You have serious issues with gingers k hahaha <3
