hi everyone i have an adult female western hognose and she hasnt eaten for at least 3 months, she still comes out on a daily basis and moves around alot and burrows ect and ive seen her drink, but she isnt interested in eating at the moment,do you know why she has gone of her food,is it because its her natural hibernation period, and how long can a adult hognose go without food many thanks carl, ps the viv temp is fine.

I found that moving down to pinkies helped Wilbur start eating again. I think they are just lazy sometimes and like the easier option

i've had my hog bert for 6 months now and have just moved him to a larger viv 3 weeks ago. His last feed was 6weeks ago he hasn't eaten since. I know alot of people's hoggys stop eating for abit but i was curious if any one knows why they stop eating? he eats fuzzy's wud it be a good idea to feed him pinkies or shall i just stick to the fuzzy's. i'm also new to snakes bert is my first.

Horace is just over a year or so old, and he stopped eating completely in summer... went for 3 months without. When he did start eating again, it was on very small pinks (thought this would be less likely to overface him).... worked way back up to fluffs now, with no apparent problems... Did not have any really appreciable weight loss sufficient to overly concern me and he seemed fine and 'normal' in all other ways.

Have you tried braining, withdrawing water for a couple of days and then offering 'wet' feed, or scenting with chicken soup (apparently works well for Kaz).... wonder what she does when Lewy won't eat!!

Hope you manage to get her feeding again soon.... J
