I purchased her about 3 weeks or so ago, she is just over 3 months old, he had a feeding chart wich shows she ate for 6 weeks in a row. I got her home and introduced her to my male, however she refused feed after a week so i made the desision to seperate them for now putting her in a small cricket tub. still she wouldnt eat so a friend who keeps hogs himself reckonmended a teqnique hes used many times, that being remove there water for a week and give them a realy moist hot pinkie. i tried this a still she wont eat, i do not want to sent the food as she was already taking unsented pinks before.. ive also tried putting her in the dark, braining, cutting the pink up, tiny pinks, larger pinks.. still nothing. i tried leaving it in there, and dragging it around however she just hissed and curled up away from it. |

I work with the guy at a reptile supplies warehouse, so he gets all his food from there the same as me. i've spoken to him, and the only difference is that he used bark and i use aspen but i have tried bark and didnt have any succes.
on a good note though, she is a very healthy weight, 10.6g wich as far as im aware is good for a snake thats about 4 months old.

whoever u got her from, contact them and ask how they fed their pinks, and find out where they got their pinks, we have snakes that will eat food from one place but not another different stockists, also if she that tiny i prob wouldn't keep on aspen and certainly wouldn't feed on aspen for fear of ingestion in such a small snake

hi, thanks for your reply, I have heard alot of confliction regarding keeping them together, i am aware that alot of people dont however i have a few friends keeping them together, and two in particular are succecfully breeding them, i feel that there isnt a right or wrong.
however, i have decided to get a friend to help assist feed her this time we are going to weigh her and record it before hand so i can start the offering process again safe in mind that shes had food, any more advice or objections to my desions would be great to hear. thanks regards jake :) |

Yes, the temperatures should be fine with just a heat mat. I have to say, I don't think it's a good idea to keep snakes together - some people do it with no problems, but it can be stressful for the snakes, and you risk cannibalism or unwanted breeding. I've never heard of the advice about taking their water away, and I don't really like the sound of it, but perhaps someone else knows of this technique?
For now, I would keep offering your female food regularly and keep an eye on her weight. As long as you don't see any significant weight loss, you should be OK - I'd also recommend having a trawl through some of the older posts on this forum which relate to hoggies going off their food. It's a topic which comes up time and again, and there are lots of really good tips on here which might help you. |

i would just like to add that her temperature is 30 on the hot side and about 26 on the cool side. |

i did think she might shed, but none of my snakes really go off their food unless they have blue eyes. she had eaten the week before i got her and was due a feed on the day i got her home. i dont have a stat, shes on a heat mat with aspen bedding in a cricket tub, i have half a toilet roll tube and now have her water back in there for her. I have been adviced that the temperature doesnt need to be extreme and that just having a heat mat will be fine, is this wrong?
my male is about 2 years old, i also got told they would be fine together? however i dont plan to put her in that tank until shes bigger and eating enough |

what is your set up now like? temps? is it statted? Sometimes hoggies go off eating. She could possibly be coming up for a shed? My boy wont eat when hes gonna shed.
Remoing her from being in with your boy was a wise move. How old is your boy? |
