Hello, I have two hognoses which originally belonged to my mother for around 13 years. I've had
Them for approx 1 year now so they are getting on. One has recently started relentlessly digging
In the same spot and for one I'm worried it will damage its self
Secondly I'm a little worried given their age. I've tried moving the tank around and covering
The spot but to no avail.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Hi, does the snake do this all the time or just now and again, ive noticed with mine he sometimes sits digging in the corner, but its not all the time and hes fine, you have to think his nose is designed to dig around sand mad a gravel, smooth plastic is unlikely to hurt him.

another thing ive noticed, when i baught mine he was kept in a tank with only a clear front, however i put him in one with all sides clear, this made him dig against the sides for a bit, i figured it was because he could understand the clear sides being all around him.

It could be trying to get away from the heat source, but I agree with Kehhlyr, we'd need to know a little bit more info before we could advise. Does the other one show any signs of unusual behaviour or is it just this one?

Are they kept seperately??
What substrate are you using?
What heat sources?
How are the temperatures measured?
How big is the tank?
How are you regulating the heat?
When was the last time they fed?
Where is it digging in relation to the heat source(s)?

If you could answer the above, then we may be able to give ideas for you.
