Posted - 17/07/2009 : 15:27:45 I don't see this high metabolism thing, hognose shed about 4 times a year in my house for the first 1- 2 yrs they grow very slowly then all of a sudden they go mad and gain size maturity in the last year then ready to breed.
If hognose were supposed to have such a high metabolism they'd feed more often and grow at a faster rate earlier in life or throughout their lives - my thoughts anyway lol |

Posted - 16/07/2009 : 10:24:40 yes we think so, every 2-3 months is about avaerage for Wilbur.
It's weird because they are supposed to have high metabolisms so you'd expect them to grow and shed more quickly..... that's if you can get them to eat that is.
Wilbur is on a roll though- he's not missed a feed for about 2 months! WOOT! |

Posted - 15/07/2009 : 23:59:11 first dont panic. my hoggie has only shed 2 times in 10months. hognose snakes dont seem to shed as often as other speices of snakes. a few questions how old is your snake? what wieght is it? how often and what is it feeding on?
it will shed in its own time so dont worry. |
