Posted - 05/06/2009 : 17:36:30 Hi,
Im picking up my first Hoggy in a few days and just wanted to ask if you think Iv got things right. Its an 08 Female Western btw.
Ive set up a small flat faunarium, deep aspen bedding, two hides (one in hot end one in cooler), water bowl obviously, and have one end of the faunarium on a strip heat mat.
What do you think? Anything else I need? Is it big enough?
What temp do I want the hot end? As I could also angle a lamp over one end if mat isnt enough (mat is on a stat btw)?
Thanks Kay. |

Posted - 08/06/2009 : 12:23:08 08 hoggy = about the size of a fat worm
although some will be bigger than others. It all depends on how well they feed. |

Posted - 05/06/2009 : 22:12:28 Thanks alot. How come you prefere rubs? I just had this faunarium spare but am a little worried its too small, but wont really know til I pick up the snake. Having never had a Hoggy, its hard to imagine how big an 08 is??!
Love the ideas with the sand on other threads, definately something Il do in the future.
Any other advice welcome

Posted - 05/06/2009 : 18:32:57 hi i like to keep mine on the warm side. i keep mine with a hot spot between 86 and 90f the cool end is about 82f. over all night temp is about 80f. everything else sounds fine. i like to use rubs instead of faunariums. hope this helps. |
