Posted - 04/05/2009 : 10:47:16 I found no problems housing my hognose snakes together. Just make sure you can tell the diferents between the two, so you know wich snake eats or not And the snakes have to be around the same size |

Posted - 29/03/2009 : 05:30:40 Yeah, I prefer to keep my snakes housed separately. Hognoses are known to include snakes in their diet in the wild as well, so all the more to keep them separated. But, I also know of several people who keep their hognoses housed together without too much problem - definitely not for the first-time snake owners though, because there are some things you need to watch out for health-wise when housing snakes together.
Since hognoses are relatively small, they can be housed in a 10 gallon tank or similarly-sized container, so space for the vivs is not as big of an issue.

Posted - 01/03/2009 : 16:16:49 Generally- I wouldn't advise keeping two snakes together, but then I've not heard of any problems specifically where Hoggies are concerned.
I probably wouldn't do it myself, just because there's more trouble that can spring up from housing together than not, like cannibalism, fighting, possible stress of the snakes and even getting the sexes wrong and ending up with unexpected eggs. Since they don't grow too large, then it's not much more hassle having two vivs rather than just the one.
I think some people do house together though. It's a personal choice thing really. |
