Posted - 09/10/2011 : 14:24:23 Hey everyone. :)
I've got my first hognose today and although I'd had the enclosure set up for a while, I am having some doubts/questions about it.
She's quite smaller than I envisioned, and the enclosure is a 20x35x15 cm (about 7x13x5 inches, or something) faunarium. It's not big, by any means, but compared to her, it is quite bit! It has a hide on both warm and cold ends, along with a heatmat covering 1/3 of it.
She's chilling in it at the moment, but my question is, is it too big? I have a couple hatchling tubs from my baby corns and they're much, much smaller. Should I transfer her to one of these?
Thanks a lot everyone <3 |

Posted - 10/10/2011 : 16:10:20 yeah this is normal. What are you keeping it on? Have you ensure plenty of burrowing depth aspen wise for it? |

Posted - 09/10/2011 : 21:43:40 Due to the helpful suggestions of some other hoggy keeper, I moved her to the smaller rub (about 20x10cm floor space) and she's running mad through it, moving all the hides, etc.
Is this normal? |

Posted - 09/10/2011 : 21:23:35 we put our wee boy in a 9l rub when we first got him and he was tiny about 4 inches and the floor space of a 9l rub is about a 12 x 8 inch approx and he has been fine, i may be lucky but he has never had an issue in it, feeding very well, handling very well, doing everything id expect him to do but i am a new hoggy keeper too so dont take my word for it

Posted - 09/10/2011 : 15:25:54 She's about 15cm long or so.
I actually have an extra 4x7x5 inches faunarium (slightly smaller, maybe, since these are just rough measuring), do you reckon that it would be better?
It has about 1/3 of the floor space the other one has, but it's the same height. |

Posted - 09/10/2011 : 14:56:58 How big roughly is she? If you pack it out really well with extra hides and lots of fake plants she might live quite happily in there. If she seems stressed, unab,e to settle and won't eat you may have to think of finding a smaller home for here |
